1 Installation

Upload the plugin .zip from your WordPress dashboard

FilterCraft PRO ships as a single zip file. Standard WordPress install — no FTP, no command line, no developer required.

  • Go to Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin
  • Click Choose File and select filtercraft-pro-2.8.13.zip
  • Click Install Now and wait for the upload to finish
Updating? WordPress will detect the existing install and offer "Replace current with uploaded". Your settings, filter sets and SEO rules are preserved.

Requirements check: if your site is missing PHP 7.4+ or WordPress 5.8+, FilterCraft refuses to activate and shows a clear notice telling you exactly what's missing.

  • Pick which post types you want to filter (WooCommerce products are auto-detected)
  • Choose a default layout: Vertical sidebar, Horizontal Row, or Popover Bar
  • Pick a starting design preset (you can switch any time)
Skip anytime: the wizard is a shortcut, not a gate. Click "Skip for now" and you'll land directly on the Dashboard with sensible defaults.

  • Drag any filter type from the left into your set

Pretty URLs, custom titles, smart noindex — automatically

Filtered pages get crawlable URLs out of the box. The SEO Rules engine adds per-rule control: noindex thin combinations, customize titles and meta descriptions, set canonicals.

9 Multilingual (WPML / Polylang)

Filter labels, slugs and URLs translate themselves

Activate WPML or Polylang and FilterCraft auto-registers every filter title, label, and option for translation. Pretty-URL slugs become per-language. Hreflang tags appear automatically. Filtered results are auto-scoped to the active language.

  • Open WPML → String Translation (or Languages → Strings Translations for Polylang)
  • Filter by domain "filtercraft" — all your labels appear there
  • Translate each one in the editor; FilterCraft picks them up immediately
  • Slugs in URLs (e.g. /color-blue/ → /renk-mavi/) auto-translate too
Both active? If both WPML and Polylang are installed, WPML takes priority and the Polylang integration is automatically skipped — no conflicts.

Quick fixes for common issues

"Admin bundle missing" notice on the FilterCraft admin page
This means the React admin assets weren't shipped in the zip. Re-download the latest plugin zip (which includes admin-app/build/assets/main.js and main.css), then upload it via Plugins → Add New → Upload and choose "Replace current with uploaded".
Filters don't update without page reload
FilterCraft uses AJAX by default. If your theme caches HTML aggressively or a third-party plugin disables REST API, AJAX may fail silently — FilterCraft then falls back to classic submit. To force AJAX: Settings → Behavior → "Always use AJAX" and check that your REST API endpoint /wp-json/filtercraft/v1/ returns JSON in your browser.
Checkboxes look like a thin vertical line on Motta / other themes
Some themes apply aggressive resets to <input> elements. Versions 2.8.5 and 2.8.6 made this bullet-proof — make sure you're on the latest version (2.8.13 or newer). The fix uses dedicated <span> marks that themes can't override.
Color swatches show only gray
FilterCraft tries 6 sources to resolve a color: its own fc_color term meta, 10 third-party meta keys (YITH, Soft79, Variation Swatches, Motta…), hex in slug, dictionary of 60+ named colors (English & Turkish), the filtercraft/swatch_color filter hook, then #CCCCCC. If you see gray, set the color manually under Products → Attributes → [your color attribute] → Edit term.
Horizontal layout doesn't render full-width
When placed inside a sidebar, the widget needs the "Move above products grid" option enabled (default ON for Layout = Horizontal Row). Check the widget settings: it requires a CSS container selector — WooCommerce shops auto-detect ul.products; for custom post types set the selector under Filter Set → Settings → CSS Container.
Plugin won't activate
FilterCraft requires WordPress 5.8+ and PHP 7.4+. The activation check shows a clear notice if either is missing. To check your PHP version: WordPress → Tools → Site Health → Info → Server. Most hosts let you upgrade PHP from cPanel in one click.
